The black arts/myths of SEO
When approaching SEO, it must be understood that there is no 'quick' way for instant results. SEO is much more about an overall long term strategy, with lots of changes and optimisations across many areas of the site, rather that the old fashioned view of 'stick as many keywords into the keyword field as possible' this may have worked in the dark ages but it certainly doesn't get you anywhere now.
To get the edge you need a backbone of well structured and semantic code to be the foundations in which to implement the SEO strategy, after analysing the current position in the market and search results, we can tailor this and bring up the areas that are perhaps lagging behind - eventually leading to an overall promotion of the web site.
A current misconception may be that all you have to do is 'submit your site to a few leading search engines' and that prized first position will come straight away, this just doesn't happen. The more competitors to your service or product, the less chance you have of getting to the top without any decent SEO optimisation.
With SEO you really get what you pay for, as mentioned there is no quick fix, the best idea if you have an existing site is to have a proper overhaul - we will write a detailed report showing how your site can be improved, and perhaps areas that are dragging it down. If we can identify the faults we can tailor the overall SEO optimisation strategy to suit these areas, thus helping the site lose it's anchors at the bottom of the listings. With careful thought and implementation and a number of hours, any site can be made to perform better in the long run.
If you are interested in a head on battle with another competitor this is certainly something that can be investigated. By looking very closely at the competitors we can work out where we should perhaps promote the site, and where we shouldn't.. trying to work the edge to our advantage in areas that they perhaps haven't noticed or are weaker at.
It can all be achieved given time, skill and patience. It just won't happen overnight!
